We know that in the Garden of Eden, God told the animals “every green herb have I given you for meat”. In Eden, even the animals were vegetarians; But, I have to ask - how did God enforce that law? With Adam and Eve it is easy to see - God just told them and expected them to obey what He said. But the animals? How would God be able to enforce this rule? Did He put muzzles on the lions? Did He have angels running around behind them making sure they didn’t eat the deer or what?
Most people either never asked the question or else brushed it away with a trite statement like “oh, the Spirit of God made them so peaceful they didn’t want to kill…” but that’s just nonsense. I mean really, it feels kinda good but it says nothing. And if you read many of my articles, by now you’re familiar with the fact that I demand REAL answers, not meaningless catch-phrases. So let’s look into this. Because we know that at some point in the future God will again turn the animals back to being vegetarians, so the process is clearly reversible.
Isaiah 11:7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
So how will God do this? Just some magic-wand idea where He goes ZAP and the lions develop a taste for chewing the cud? I rather think not. So let’s see what it takes to make something a vegetarian…. Read the rest of this entry »
